With its foundation firmly set in ancient yogic traditions Dru yoga is a potent form of yoga working on body, mind and spirit. It is based on flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation. Dru yoga can improve strength, flexibility, create core stability and build a heightened sense of positivity and well being. Dru yoga can be deeply relaxing and can also energise and rejuvenate your whole body.
With an emphasis on a soft, gentle approach to physical movements, performed slowly with awareness and often with many repetitions, it may appear that you are not working your body deeply enough to impact on your physical health, especially if you are used to more dynamic exercise programmes. However with regular practice of Dru yoga you will begin to realise that you are actually working the body at deeper levels. As you soften and enter a deeper awareness you may find strength of body, mind and spirit, which you would not have previously thought possible.
Dru yoga is suitable for all abilities, fitness levels and age groups.
A typical class would begin with gentle breathing exercises followed by some activation to warm up the body, an EBR (Energy Block Release) sequence which are easy to practise flowing movements that help to release physical, mental and emotional tensions, asanas, ending with a deep relaxation.
No special equipment is required, although you will find that it is more comfortable if you bring along a mat to work on and a blanket or throw for relaxation.
Dru yoga classes are held in Falkirk and Linlithgow. Classes are on a pay per week basis and cost £5.00 per class.
